FAQs

All returns, exchanges, and gift returns must be initiated through the YALA Returns Portal within 15 days of your purchase date. Simply enter your order information in the portal to generate a prepaid shipping label.

Items must be in their original condition (unworn, unwashed, with original tags attached) and free of pet hair, perfume, or smoke odors. Please repackage items in their original protective bag to keep them protected in transit.

Returns must be initiated within 15 days of purchase. For apparel, full-price items are eligible for a refund, exchange, or store credit. Items discounted 30% or more are eligible for exchange or store credit only. "Final Sale" items are non-returnable.

For bedding, full-price unopened bedding is eligible for a refund; opened bedding is eligible for exchange or store credit. Used or laundered bedding cannot be returned.

A $8.95 processing fee is deducted from refunds issued to the original payment method. Refunds to store credit are free. Original shipping costs are non-refundable.

Standard exchanges are for an alternative size or color of the same item. If you'd like a completely different item, we recommend choosing the store credit option for your return. You'll receive free return shipping and no processing fee, and you can use your credit to purchase anything on the site.

Returns and exchanges are processed within 10 to 15 business days of arrival at the YALA return facility. For refunds to your original payment method, please allow up to 3 weeks and 1 to 2 billing cycles for the amount to appear on your credit card statement. Exchanges are shipped free of charge once processed.

The most common reasons for this are: your order is outside the 15-day return window (calculated from the original purchase date, not the delivery date), the item is marked "Final Sale," or the item was discounted 30% or more and is therefore only eligible for store credit or exchange rather than a refund.

If you purchased YALA products from a retail partner or third-party website, those orders cannot be processed through the YALA portal. You will need to contact that retailer directly.

YALA is a small, women-owned and women-led Oregon-based business. While the team works hard to respond promptly, response times may vary. You can reach out through the Contact Us page on the website. For the fastest resolution on return or exchange questions, using the self-service Returns Portal is often the quickest path.

Discount codes are typically sent via the YALA newsletter. If you signed up for emails, check your inbox (and spam folder) for a welcome offer or promotional code. You can also check the top banner on the website for any active promotions, such as current gift-with-purchase offers.

YALA provides a detailed Sizing Guide on the website. For women, sizes run from XS (fits sizes 0 to 2) through 3XL (fits sizes 20 to 22), with measurements for bust, waist, and hips. For men, sizes range from Small through XXL with chest, waist, inseam, neck, and sleeve measurements.

To find your best fit, measure the fullest part of your chest (bust), your natural waistline, and the fullest part of your hips, then compare to the chart. When in between sizes, consider whether you prefer a relaxed or more fitted feel.

Why Bamboo?

We aspire to leave a gentle footprint on the planet. For over eighteen years, we have continuously chosen bamboo as our primary fabric for reasons exclusive to this single, prolific plant:

  • Water Preservation — Our bamboo grows in the Shunan Forest in South Sichuan, China, where it receives so much natural rainfall it requires no additional irrigation.
  • Renewable Resource — Bamboo is the fastest growing woody plant on earth, needing thinning every 2–5 years to prevent overcrowding die-off.
  • Organically Grown — Bamboo requires no chemicals or pesticides to thrive and leaves none behind in the soil.
  • Air Quality — Bamboo absorbs CO² and produces 35% more oxygen than an equivalent stand of hardwood trees.
  • Closed Loop Processing — 98% of the water used in our viscose process is captured, cleaned, and re-used.
  • Feel & Function — Silky soft, lightweight, breathable, temperature-regulating, moisture-wicking, and naturally high in UPFs.

Our Production Partners

YALA has worked closely with the same production team in China for over 18 years. This long-standing relationship means we can assure you that the people who make your YALA garments are paid fairly, treated well, and work in a safe and comfortable environment. Many of our workers have been with us for over ten years.

Our recent inspection by Oeko-Tex achieved top marks for safety and social responsibility due to our fair trade practices.

Our Certifications

  • Oeko-TEX 100 — Certifies no residual chemicals are present in our garments and bedding.
  • Oeko-Tex STeP — Certifies sustainable production methods from source to loom.
  • ECOCERT / GOTS — Ensures our bamboo is grown organically and is USDA Certified Organic.
  • Responsible Wool Standard — Ensures our Merino sheep are treated humanely.
  • Bluesign — Ensures worker safety and environmental responsibility at every production stage.

Our overall philosophy is creating sustainable and comfortable clothing that supports every human life it touches, from our production partners throughout our supply chain, to our crew here in Ashland, to the end consumer. — Rae
